The next 4 weeks are going to be very busy for our team. We will be continuing the podcasts and videos on the Bootcamp Series. We now have the first 3 done. This week Chris and I will be recording the update on his Best In Class recommendations While that topic normally comes later in the series, I know a lot of you are waiting for his changes so we will release next week.

Next Monday I will be making a Zoom presentation to guests at the Bainbridge Senior Center. The title, “How to Avoid the 12 Biggest Investment Mistakes Retirees Make.” What is special for me is that I will be sharing the help that AI can be in identifying and managing these mistakes.

If you would like to join us here is a link for more information: https://biseniorcenter.org/events/how-to-avoid-the-12-biggest-investment-mistakes-retirees-make/

On Tuesday I will be speaking to 75 graduating nurses at Texas A&M. This will be a long presentation that I hope to record and share with those of you who are interested in what we are trying to teach these precious young people. I get one shot at them and then they are free to roam the internet for other solutions. Scary!

On Thursday, March 6, Mary Beth Franklin will be making a presentation on Social Security. Here is a link to her information. If you have an unanswered Social Security question please send me your question to paul@paulmerriman.com. Please put Social Security in the subject line.

The 2024 numbers are finally in and we have produced the #1 investment decision in the Bootcamp series. There is no question that the biggest lifetime decision an investor makes is the choice between the safety of bonds and the potential long term growth of stocks. Here is a link to the pdf of the set of slides Paul uses in the presentation. The presentation includes the updated 1, 15 and 40 year returns tables along with the quilt charts for the 1928 to 2024 period.

Our thanks to Daryl Bahls who has put together most of the tables in the Bootcamp series.

If you have questions please send them to paul@paulmerriman.com. Please put Bootcamp #1 in the subject line.

Lates MarketWatch Article- These small changes could boost your investment gains by millions of dollars

If you asked 1,000 investors what equity asset class they would choose to own for life, if they could choose only one, most of them (perhaps 95%) would likely name either the S&P 500 index or the Total Market Index.

That’s not a bad answer. But based on more than half a century of real-life investment returns, it’s far from the best answer.
