There are people in the financial education community that are changing the financial futures for tens of thousands of people. Many of them are on our list of Truth-Tellers. In the world of public education Tim Ranzetta certainly sits on the top of that list. Tim, and his merry band of staff at NGPF.org are providing free curriculum to schools all over the U.S, as well as teaching the teachers, again without cost, how to use this information to change the financial futures of 100s of thousands of high school students.

How to invest money while saving for retirement? This tool may help.

There are also thousands of dedicated superstars who are working with smaller groups of young people to help them get started on the best path to lifetime financial fitness. Wendy Greenwood is one of the superstars! link behind her name.

Wendy is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Texas A&M University. She is passionate about helping graduating nurses get ready for the real world. She is part of the Life Transitions Series offered at Texas A&M. And part of that series focuses on preparing for the huge financial decisions they will make, as they make their way into their career.

I have twice been offered the opportunity to speak with these freshly minted nurses. Here is a link to the latest presentation I made to Wendy’s students. I think most of you will recognize the presentation material.

My reason for bringing this to your attention is I am asking for your help in finding groups of people, like these graduating nurses, to share our information. I can’t travel to each school to teach but I can do a Zoom presentation most days of the week. And of course there is no cost to the students or the school.

I am also happy to talk to groups of 401k investors. I have done that at Wyerhauser and Boeing. I turn 81 next month so I am fully aware that my years of helping others are numbered. I would appreciate any help you can be in finding opportunities to help investors. On November 16 I will be speaking to the LA Chapter of AAII (average age probably 70), so I am not only trying to help first time investors.

Got an idea where I might be able to help? paul@paulmerriman.com Or send your phone number and a couple of good times to call.

Two articles (with great tables and graphs) from Ben Carlson on real estate. I talked about these two articles on my podcast this week.

“Why Housing is Everyone’s Favorite Investment” and “What is the Historical Rate of Return on Housing?”

Paul starts the podcast with a discussion of his special presentation to the graduating nurses from the College of Nursing at Texas A&M. This presentation was part of a Life Transitions Series. He discusses how he might be able to do a similar presentation for other groups of graduating college students, as well as groups of investors who are trying to get the most from their company 401k.

The second topic is regarding a new set of tables that should help investors figure out potential future returns for the S&P 500, Small Cap Value, U.S. 2 Fund Index Portfolio and U.S. 4 Fund Index Portfolio.

The third topic was motivated by Ben Carlson’s articles on “Why Housing is Everyone’s Favorite Investment” and “What is the Historical Rate of Return on Housing?” Paul recently sold his home and discusses the challenges of figuring out how the profits compared to the S&P 500., As promised Paul had his meeting with David Sterman, an hourly CFP, who has followed our recommendations. Paul discusses his services and costs.
